Ruby Students Create Fantastic Iron Dog Project

Students in Ruby have been prepping for Iron Dog 37’s arrival with a detailed class project that allows young readers to follow along at each of the checkpoints along the way. Teacher Dee Washburn organized the project, which challenges the kids to read a desired number of pages for every mile, or group of miles, of the race. With nearly 2,400 miles of race, that’s A LOT of reading. The children color their own snowmachine cutout to follow along with each of the checkpoints featured in the project.

Parents are also involved in the challenge, monitoring their children’s reading progress and signing to certify that they are indeed Reading Racers!

What a great idea, and a fun and educational way to follow the World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race. Thanks, Dee Washburn, for sharing!
