Mark Carr

Mark Carr has one of the best records in Iron Dog history. He entered his first race in 1994, finishing 4th with Dusty Van Meter. He raced again in 1995 and 1996 but did not finish. In 1997, he teamed up with Scott Davis on Arctic Cats and then dominated the race like no one ever has. Carr and Davis won the next three races in a row, all of them in convincing fashion. In 2000, Carr and Davis finished 2nd. In 2001, Mark switched to Ski-Doo, teaming with Kory Cronquist to finish second. A DNF followed in 2002 and the race was cancelled in 2003 but in 2004, Mark paired up with his former partner Dusty Van Meter and won the race, the only victory ever scored for Ski-Doo. Mechanical problems held him back in 2005 and then a broken hand forced him to scratch prior to the 2006 race and he retired from Iron Dog competition.Since then, Mark has stayed active with the Iron Dog as a cover and fuel pilot and as a mechanic and advisor for other teams. Mark Carr entered the Iron Dog race 11 times, winning 4 of them. That kind of domination may never be seen again.
