The Iron Dog Race announces the 2014 Purse.
The Iron Dog purse reaches an all-time record for 2014. Now at $248,350 in overall available prizes, we are very grateful for the great sponsors who make it possible. Be sure to check out the list below and say thank you to a sponsor for supporting this great race.
$126,000 in cash payouts
- 1st place: $50,000
- 2nd place: $35,000
- 3rd place: $18,000
- 4th place: $13,000
- 5th place: $10,000
For the team finishing in 6th place, the contingency prize is a certificate for a free entry into the 2015 Iron Dog race for both riders.
The available contingency prize totals are up more than $35,000 over last year, especially thanks to Team CC for providing a large award for eligible Ski-Doo teams.[table id=40 /]
Definitions: Fastest, means the least time, usually between checkpoints or shortest duration on the course between locations. Cash, usually means a check or other monetary compensation other than a product, certificate or service.

Award Details will be received by Race Participants prior to the Race Event Start. **certificate is based on the individual, is non-transferable and only valid for the 2015 event. ***Max payout potential is $7,000 as there are only two teams eligible for 2014. The course distance is over 2,000 miles, starting in Big Lake with a halfway stop in Nome and finishing in Fairbanks, making it the World’s longest and toughest snowmobile race. There will be 110 snow machines on the trail this year, the highest number of entries to date. Participants cover some of Alaska’s the most remote and rugged terrain while confronting some the harshest winter conditions. The first place team is expected to arrive on the Chena River in downtown Fairbanks at approximately 12pm on Saturday, February 22.Iron Dog, Inc. is pleased to announce $119,750 in contingency prizes and $126,000 in cash awards in 2014 brings the total purse to $245,750, another all time high for the Iron Dog, eclipsing the 2013 total by more than $35,000."Despite the tough economy, Iron Dog prizes are knocking on the door of a quarter of a million dollars.
