2015 IRON DOG PURSE AND PRIZES
Iron Dog increases the purse and retains great sponsor support for contingency prizes.Anchorage, Alaska (AK). Iron Dog has for the first time in its history, exceeded a quarter of a million dollars in total available purse and prizes. With the support of great sponsors, committed racers and a long-term vision for the future – Iron Dog is making steady progress with its prizes and awards programs.“Our goal as an organization is to build a foundation for the future that can one day pay out world-class prizes to our racers” said Kevin Kastner, Iron Dog Executive Director. “We have been working hard over the last 5 years to build a solid fiscal plan that will provide the stability required to continue to responsibly grow the purse year over year. It’s my personal goal to reach a level of support in the next few years that will allow us to dramatically increase the cash payouts and include more finishers in the rewards they deserve for completing this grueling race.”For 2015, the Iron Dog Board of Directors has approved an increase in the overall cash purse to $130,000. A $2,000 increase has been added to the total payout for both 3rd Place and 4th Place. In 2014, the 3rd Place team took home $18,000 and the 4th Place team took home $13,000.2015 Iron Dog Cash Payouts
- 1st Place: $50,000
- 2nd Place: $35,000
- 3rd Place: $20,000
- 4th Place: $15,000
- 5th Place: $10,000
- Total: $130,000
In addition to the cash payouts, Iron Dog attracted a great collection of contingency prizes for rookies, veterans and riders of all makes. From a combination of more than 40 unique contingency prizes, the total value of the 2015 Iron Dog Contingency Prizes is $122,800 $124,728. Thanks to Crowley Fuels for the $1,000 contingency prize we accidentally omitted and last second prizes from Hotel McGrath worth $848, the overall purse has increased by $1,848 since we announced the purse. Combined with the cash payouts and contingency prizes, the total value of the 2015 Iron Dog prizes has reached a new record of $252,800 $254,648.
The first major prize, the “Gold Rush Prize”, a $10,000 cash prize provided by Donlin Gold will be presented to the fastest Pro Class team to make it to Nome during a halfway ceremony held at the Nome Recreation Center on February 25, 2015 in Nome, AK.Visit https://www.irondog.org/event-info for the latest news and schedule of events.
