Era Goes Pro Class

There are two major things that have to come together in order for the Iron Dog to function at all, our volunteers and moving them across a 2,000 mile race course. For 2011, Era Aviation pulled out all the stops and showed us they're truly a Pro Class company!Staff and VolunteersThere are hundreds of volunteers all across Alaska that we depend on to even conduct this race. To move people to places like Galena, Unalakleet, Nome and Faribanks - you need an airline that knows how to get them there. Era generously moved dozens of volunteers, staff and media teams up and down the trail this year at no cost to the Iron Dog. We are truly grateful for the support.Student Exchange TeamWe're very excited about our first Urban-Rural exchange program and so was Era. They covered the air fare for five students and their teacher to fly in from Tanana to be part of the Start of the 2011 Iron Dog race in Big Lake. Once the race progressed toward Tanana, Era then flew five King Career Center students and their teachers from Anchorage to Fairbanks to catch a small carrier flight (Wright Air Service) to get them to Tanana. Wright was also generous in their support, providing some comp and discounted fares to help the student teams to and from Fairbanks. We appreciate everyone in Tanana getting involved in this project!All the students had an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeing the Iron Dog from multiple angles while sharing in a cultural and education exchange with their peers from other parts of Alaska.
