Race Software by Pangomedia
One of the most unsung heroes of keeping a race like Iron Dog running are the software and volunteers who manage the race tracking like Jody & Steve Nolan and Brett Carr.In 2013, we met with a professor at UAA who helped us get a student project started to develop a new Iron Dog timing software application. Many lessons were learned and we even managed to keep one of the students around in 2013 to further refine our tools. That student, Kyle, got a great job at Pangomedia, a local IT firm in Anchorage. Kyle stayed on as developer for us on the side and was instrumental in keeping the tools working in 2014.As the requirements for the software grew, it was time to reach out to Pangomedia directly to see if we could get them to support us as a team. Without reluctance, Pangomedia offered a significant in-kind contribution toward the development of a new online registration system for us to better manage the participant bios, sponsors and race history. This has saved Iron Dog hundreds of volunteer and staff hours already, and we expect the system to get even better as we build on its success over the next few years. The ease of development, communication and capability of Pangomedia to grasp our challenges was a breath of fresh air. Not every IT/development firm can switch up from dry corporate application development to handle a very unique race management tool. So far, we are extremely thrilled with the tool and hope that it leads to more innovations such as real-time tracking and mobile time tracking tools. If you're looking for a team in Alaska that can take on nearly any IT project, Iron Dog fully recommends you talk with the Pangomedia team!
