Donlin Gold
Donlin Gold has been a great sponsor since 2011.
The support we receive from Donlin Gold has been tremendous, and we are grateful for their ongoing commitment to reach out to communities along the Iron Dog trail. Every year since 2011, they have sponsored the Gold Rush Prize for the fastest Pro Class to our halfway city of Nome. The first year, we presented the prize in actual gold coins minted by Alaska Mint valued at $10,000. Since then, we have awarded a check for $10,000 to the winning team.
Why Donlin Gold?
Initially, Donlin Gold was simply working with us to reach out to people along the race route where their project might have some connection with the locals in those communities. Since then, we have developed a growing partnership of outreach, public relations and community involvement. As Donlin Gold's project moves forward, there are new opportunities for outreach to promote new jobs in communities that have a connection with the Iron Dog.In January 2014, together with the Alaska National Guard, Donlin Gold and Iron Dog put together a community outreach event in Bethel, Alaska to share with students why sponsors are involved with a snowmachine race. In a team effort, local Bethel Iron Dog veterans from Team #19 (Gux Laraux and Steven Boney) also attend a large assembly where 500 students were given the chance to meet racers, learn about the opportunities that Donlin Gold and the Alaska National Guard can offer.
We are truly grateful for the support and hope you'll share your thanks with Donlin Gold as they continue to develop new opportunities for Alaskans!
