Spotlight On: Specialty Trucks & Auto, Iron Dog 2020 Sponsor

Specialty Trucks & Auto knows exactly how much work goes into making an Iron Dog race dream become reality. The longtime Alaska company is a much-appreciated Iron Dog sponsor and we thank them for their involvement, year in and year out. Iron Dog’s sponsors play a critical role in supporting the race, not only through financial giving, but also time, expertise and donations.

Iron Dog thanks these sponsors who support the World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race, and we want you to know a bit more about them. Here, we talk with Keith Manternach, Specialty Trucks president, longtime Iron Dog volunteer, pilot and all-around nice guy.

Q. Tell us about your business and what services you provide.

A. Specialty Truck & Auto does general automotive repair. We can be reached at 907-349-1637 and our website is specialtytruckandauto.com.

 Q. How long have you been an Iron Dog Sponsor?

A. I have been involved with Iron Dog for over 30 years.

Q. Why did you decide to become an Iron Dog sponsor?

A. I had lots of friends racing so it was a natural to be interested and eventually involved as a sponsor.

Q. How do you think the community benefits from the existence of the Iron Dog?

A. I think the outlying communities not only benefit economically, but the kids are able to meet and idolize some great racers.

Q. What do you think of the revamped race this year, with the additional miles near Kotzebue and the Fairbanks start?

A. I think the new route is going to be very exciting. The old route was getting stale, and I think the new route adds excitement.
